What should I do to come up with a solid research thesis?

To come up with a solid research thesis, you need to understand what a research thesis is.
A research thesis is your answer proposed to your research question which you finalise only after completing the study. It can also be referred to as a thesis statement (also known as research question). It is the gist of academic writing. It brings organisation and the theme of writing. Generally, you should do preliminary research before creating your thesis and this statement may be revised during your research and writing progress.
A thesis statement is your main point and is presented as an argument. Writing a thesis statement involves answering the main question and doing a bit of research to make sure your thesis can be backed up.
First, determine the task the teacher has given. Try to understand the type of essay, its topic, length, format, purpose, parameters, and structure. Secondly, focus on the topic to be developed. A good thesis provides a concise and arguable point of view that is relevant to your subject matter. Thirdly, consider what you want to say about the topic.
Do some preliminary research about the topic to help develop your point of view. Choose something about your topic that interests you. Then break down your topic into an argument that you can adequately speak about. Fourthly, come up with your own question to answer for this topic. A great way to come up with a solid thesis statement is to ask a question.
Lastly, think of how to express your point in a single, complete sentence. If you had to state your idea “in a nutshell”, what would you say?
