Since taking over from the former Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi as secretary general three years ago, Lumumba and Tanga’s relationship has been largely frosty, with the two NRM leaders publicly clashing over their roles and operation mechanisms.

KAMPALA- The Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Justine Kasule Lumumba, has called upon President Museveni to swiftly solve her longstanding political rift with Dr. Tanga Odoi, the party’s electoral commission chief.

Speaking to the media at the NRM party secretariat at Plot 10, Kyadondo, on Thursday morning, Lumumba also urged Museveni, who is the NRM party chairman, to ‘stop’ pushing her differences with Tanga Odoi under the carpet.

“I call on the national chairman, who is President Museveni, to come and solve this issue because equally as Lumumba, I am tired of this. If he cannot find a solution to this, it is also not good for us,” she said, responding to a question from the media on her never-ending political battle with Tanga Odoi.

Lumumba added: “But when things get to the media, I think it is also a sign that him as a national chairman, he should stop pushing issues below the carpet, but instead come out and solve them because he is the appointing authority for both of us.”

Since taking over from the former Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi as secretary general three years ago, Lumumba and Tanga’s relationship has been largely frosty, with the two NRM leaders publicly clashing over their roles and operation mechanisms.

Speaking to New Vision, Tanga Odoi said there was no need to disturb the President with petty issues because there is no grand misunderstanding between him and Lumumba.

“I don’t have a rift with her but principle work methods, Let her sober down and do her work for which she was recruited to do, and leave Tanga Odoi from Tororo alone,” he said in a telephone interview.
