Preparations for the third edition of the Sseninde Women’s Development Cup are underway.
The one day event will be held on August, 17 at StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.
Eight teams are be expected to take part and they include Talent platform academy, Mukono community team, Kisiki College Namutumba, Western Panthers, and Senyomo Women’s Team among others
The Sseninde Women’s Development Cup was an idea initiated by Crested Cranes player Jean Sseninde.
Sseninde Women’s Development Cup was introduced to give opportunities to girls/women who have the passion to play football, but don’t get the chance. This tournament also gives them hope and makes them believe that their dreams can come true.
Sarah Bikirize(Uganda Martyrs High School), Shamira Nalujja(Isra Academy) and Fauzia Najjemba(Isra Academy) are some of the players that have featured in the tournament since inception in 2016.
Mwandha Foundation won the second edition after beating a buoyant and exciting Bishop SS 1-0 in the finals. Ruth Nabwire scored the only goal for the Iganga-based side in the first half for them to walk away with the title.
