The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president Patrick Oboi Amuriat has said that his party is going to win the election for the Njeru municipality mayoral seat.

Mr Amuriat said they are expecting victory because the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is a party that serves individual interests which has created divisionism in its leadership. He said that Ugandans have realized this weakness which is why FDC won the Jinja East municipality by-election.

“With the mobilisation and experience we had during the Jinja East municipality by-elections, FDC is winning this seat. Come rain or shine, I encourage you to go and cast your votes. The victory is ours,” said Mr Amuriat.

He made the statements during a campaign rally for the FDC mayoral candidate, Amos Kivumbi Wasswa, who was in the company of Gen Mugisha Muntu, FDC officials and some Members of Parliament in Buikwe on Tuesday.

Mr Kivumbi promised Buikwe residents good service delivery and job opportunities for youths in factories within the municipality.

Former FDC president Dr Kizza Besigye urged the voters to go early to cast their votes at the respective polling stations and protect their votes vigilantly.

The other candidates contesting for the post are Yasin Kyazze (NRM), Diana Kagyenyi Mutasingwa, Caesar Kalema, and Aziz Jjunju and Opondo Opondo all independent.

Voting is scheduled to take place on July 27 2018.
