KAMPALA – The state minister for urban development, Isaac Musumba, has urged Ugandans to be positive about the proposed Nakigalala Eco-Satellite Township, which is being planned at the Nakigalala Tea Estate, near Kajjansi in Wakiso district.

Speaking during a workshop at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala on Thursday, Musumba said the project would be implemented through a joint venture between the Government and interested private investors.

“As government, we have the commitment to have this project implemented. Good enough, we have the good will of the owner of the land, who has already given us the green light to carry on with the project.”

“Once all the modalities have been worked out, I will ensure that amenities such as electricity and water are taken to the place,” Musumba said.

The Chairman of Malaysian Incorporated Services Berhad, Esa Bin HJ Mohamed also asked Ugandans to own the project, which he said was going to be a benchmark for the future development of Uganda and the neighbouring countries.

Bin said they would put into account all the concerns of Ugandans, which was why the eco-satellite township was going to be safe, clean and environmentally-friendly.

The workshop, which was facilitated by Malaysian urban development experts, was graced by local physical planners from the lands ministry, KCCA, Makerere University and Wakiso district, among others.
