Mbale course captain Paul Okiring says that the two-day event is expected to attract men and lady golfers from around the country.

Following a successful 11th edition of the Kakira Golf open in Jinja last weekend, golfers head further east for the two-day Eastern Golf Open that tees off at the par 72 9 hole Mbale Golf course.

Mbale course captain Paul Okiring says that the two-day event is expected to attract men and lady golfers from around the country.

“We have invited players from all clubs in Uganda and others from Kenya clubs such as Kitale, Eldoret, Kakamega, Nandi and Kisumu in this historical tournament,” Okiring said.

Okiring asserted that the club’s trustees are working on the expansion of the course from the current 9 and that they would have added another four by March next year.

“We have the longest par 5 in Uganda at over 600 yards and by March next year, we shall have added more four holes as we work towards an 18-hole course,” added Okiring.

Veteran golfer George Magombe, 70 who plays off handicap 8 will be among the golfers from Mbale golf course expected to contest for honours in the men’s Group  A.
