Fr. Pio Kitanywa dies at 96

Fr. Kitanywa has been the longest serving priest in Kampala Archdiocese and Uganda.

One of the eldest Ugandan Catholic priests, Fr Pio Kitanywa is dead. 

Fr Pio Kitanywa, 96, died at Rubaga Hospital where he was admitted for one week with multiple complaints. 

Fr Kitanywa’s condition worsened two weeks back at Good Samaritan Home at Nalukolongo. 

Fr. Kitanywa has been the longest serving priest in Kampala Archdiocese and Uganda. 

According to Sister Mildred, the assistant administrator of Good Samaritan Home, Fr Pio surprisingly passed away on the day he was ordained priest on August 12.
