Relatives of Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament (MP) Francis Zaake say the doctors supposed to examine the legislator have not reported to Kiruddu Hospital, a government facility, since he was admitted.
According to Dan Mugambwa, a brother to the MP, a team of doctors from Mulago Hospital were assigned to to examine Mr Zaake and make a report to government but they have not shown up despite having made promises to come.
“We have been waiting from the doctors from Mulago Hospital up to now no doctor has come. On Saturday they said they are coming but they didn’t, even Sunday. We don’t know what these people are thinking about our patient. Do they just want him to die then they come?” Mr Mugambwa questioned.
He said that MP Zaake’s condition is worsening but he is not receiving medical attention.
“His condition is just worsening from the time we came to Kiruddu. He got an attack on Saturday night at around 2pm and from that time up to now he has not been given anything. The condition is just getting poorer and we don’t know what to do. We have tried to talk to the security agencies which brought him here but they say they are waiting for the report from the doctors assigned to examine him,” Mugambwa said.
The doctors’ examination will inform the report on whether he can travel abroad for medical treatment.
The MP was on Thursday grabbed from Entebbe International Airport as his family prepared to fly him to India for specialized treatment.
Mr Zaake, together with the Kyadondo East MP, Mr Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, were forced into waiting police ambulances and taken to Kiruddu Hospital.
Mr Zaake was immediately put under arrest in connection with the alleged stoning of a presidential vehicle. At least 33 suspects, including Bobi Wine who is now admitted in a US hospital over the injuries he said were inflicted on him by security agencies, have been charged with treason.
