The Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala has ordered for the immediate arrest of suspended Assistant Commissioner of Police Siraje Bakaleke after he allegedly defied court summons.
ACP Bakaleke had been summoned to appear today (Friday) and answer to 12 counts including abuse of office, kidnap, and conspiracy to defraud and commit a felony.

Grade One Magistrate Moses Nabende on Friday issued the warrant of arrest at the request of state prosecutor Harriet Angom who informed court that ACP Bakaleke was duly served on September 17, through his lawyers, Senguka Robert and Nakachwa Partners but neither Bakaleke nor his lawyers appeared in court.

ACP Bakaleke and other officer who include D/ASP Innocent Munezero, D/ASP Innocent Nuwagaba, D/AIP Robert Asiimwe, PC Amanya Junior, PC Babu Gastavas and PC Kenneth Zirintuusa are accused of having arbitrarily directed the wrongful arrest and confinement of three Korean nationals.

They are jointly charged with Paul Mugoya Wanyoto and Samuel Nabeta for allegedly defrauding the said Koreans of $415,000 (about Shs1.5 billion) between February 4 and 11, 2018.
Prosecution further alleges that on February 4 and 11, the accused persons conspired to kidnap the three Koreans with an intention to secretly or wrongfully confine and defraud them.
