Community donates to oldest persons in Sheema District

SHEEMA- The National Organising committee(NOC) for the celebrations of international day for older persons oldest persons in Sheema District has donated beddings to two people who are believed to be the oldest in the district to ensure that they have descent accommodation.
The two are Mr Raphael Kyatuka, 107, and Ms Ruth Nyantaka,108, are residents of Katongo village Kyeibanga parish, Kitagata- Sub county, Sheema District.

Each beneficiary received a mattress, pairs of bed sheets and a blanket.
The beddings which cost Shs 312 ,900 was delivered to them on Monday at Sheema playground by the Private Secretary to the president for Older Persons, Ms Juliana Bezwoenhout in presence of the vice president Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi.

Ms Bezwoenhout said NOC members started collecting money amongst themselves from August to September.
“We wanted to show the rest of the world that older persons need help because they can no longer support themselves,” she said.”
