An exciting semifinal stage of the Stanbic Uganda Cup awaits after Vipers completed the matchups with a 1-0 win over Kansai Plascon in Mukono yesterday.
The 2016 champions joined rivals KCCA and SC Villa the two teams also still contention for this year’s league title for the draw that will now have at least of the three sides meet.
Daniel “Mzee” Sserunkuma got the vital goal nodding in a cross from defender Geoffrey Wasswa in the 67th minute to fend off a spirited challenge from their Big League hosts.
The topflight league trio will be joined by struggling second tier Big League side Synergy who upset Proline 1-0 in Masaka on Saturday.
The result though left a sour taste in Proline coach Mujib Kasule’s mouth who accused referee Robert Donney of ulterior motvies.
The referee has spoilt the game. In my opinion he came with an intention of making sure Proline doesn’t progress,” Kasule fumed about the official who is most remembered for his role in the 2015 aborted Uganda Cup final between Villa and KCCA.
“The goal that we conceded, even a newly born child could see that it was from an off side position but that’s how they’ve decided and we’re out,” Kasule further stated.
