Police at Nyenga Police Station, Njeru municipality in Buikwe district are hunting for unknown assailants who on Friday night waylaid and strangled to death an 18-year-old shamba boy.

The Ssezibwa Regional Police Spokesperson, Ms Hellen Butoto, identified the deceased as Samuel Mubi, adding that the incident happened in Bugoba ‘A’ village, Najja Sub-county, Nyenga Division, Njeru municipality in Buikwe District.

According to Ms Butoto, the deceased was waylaid as he walked home, strangled and his body abandoned at the crime scene.

Ms Butoto said Police has not arrested anybody in relation to the crime but investigations are ongoing to bring the perpetrators to book.

“I caution residents to avoid moving alone both during day and night hours because murders and robberies always befall those who move alone,” she said.

The body was taken to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem before being handed over to the relatives for burial.
